Why I am running
I believe John Boehner is a good and honest man. He is a self made man and has served his constituents well for many years.
In 2008 at the height of the financial crisis I thought that the TARP plan and subsequent bailouts were a bad idea. I also knew the Mr. Boehner was under a great deal of pressure and did what he thought was best for the country. I know that there will never be a politician who agrees 100% with me.
But over the last few years I have become increasingly concerned that Mr. Boehner no longer represents the views of the people of Southwest Ohio. I am certain that he is not representing my views on several critical issues.
This detachment from his constituents became obvious to me with his support for President Obama over the Syria crisis. As a serious student of history I could find no good reason for going to war with Syria. I also firmly believe that this single issue could plunge the entire region into war.
When I looked at this issue along with his refusal to mount a vigorous defense of the immigration reform bill, lack of leadership on the NSA spying scandal, lack of leadership on the Benghazi scandal and a handful of other issues I felt strongly that Speaker Boehner needed to be challenged.
A congressional seat is owned by the voters not the politicians. Every two years it is up to Speaker Boehner to make his case to us, the voters of the 8th district. If we find ourselves in disagreement we have the right to make a change. I believe it is time for that change.
I am under no illusion that this will be an easy task. Defeating an incumbent is never easy. Defeating an incumbent who is the speaker of the house and is able to raise millions of dollars is even more difficult. But I believe it is well worth the effort.
My intention is to challenge Mr. Boehner on the issues. I will need your help in this effort. I will make a logical case on each issue. I will use historical context wherever possible to force the congressman to defend his position.
I would greatly appreciate your support.
